Flaming Jello Shots!

Another delightful day at the Hive and hereabouts. No driving today (or yesterday), but much wandering about nonetheless. Weather = ideal. Local places to eat 'n' drink 'n' shop = awesome. Managed to take care of the nuisance front garden issues (with the wonderful help of the always hard-working delerium3). O'morrow I'll finish up w/more mulching and a mess of lawn mowing and possibly (if'n time/energy permits), ripping up the weeds along the strip right next to the street and filling it w/fresh soil/compost mix and seeding it w/wildflowers. Then it's off to a local party, as I'm finally expanding my local/PDX social circles/life a bit more, before (perhaps) heading up to Sidhehaven for the night and to hang out some on Saturday. Feeling nicely relaxed yet productive. :-)

Lightning

Went out walkies and very much enjoyed a tremendous (yet completely SILENT) thunderstorm, mostly bright flashes and reflections behind clouds, but got to see one massive jagged bolt, too. 'Tis humid out...and very very nice.

Hugs Preferred to Bugs

My patience has worn thin. Not quite sure what sort of soul-food equivalent to corn starch I should insert into the mix to re-thicken it. Shan't rant here. Did that in my Paper Journal earlier. What I need: peace, quiet, as Silence Is Golden...or mebbe loud music. And a spell of No Stupid People from whom I cannot escape.

Interesting disco yesterday about - wow, I'm editing myself...fascinating...odd - ADD and drug reactions and my perceived need at times for overstimulation. *BOUNCE* Hyperfocus? Hmm, mebbe sometimes, mebbe in the past. Not so much now. Now more all over the sodding place. I'd like to try though.

Okay, I feel pretty good now. I'm sitting on the swinging loveseat on my front porch as the sudden outburst of rain pounds down...and then tapers off. Several other folks're enjoying the now- cooling off evening on their front porches as well. I quite like this. Haven't been at the Hive 'nuff to enjoy and appreciate this. Want more. Will make more time for this.

Not sure what I'm doing this w'end. I've lined up various ducks in various row, but won't even try to knock 'em all down. I may head Northward a tad. I may stay home and attack my front yard instead. Gonna take o'morrow easy (hopefully). I need this.

Messed Up E-mail

Please note that I'm pretty much unable to read my e-mail (sent to my yahoo account). Whenever I click to read it, I see it for a brief second and then it starts sending me off to something called js.worthathousandwords.com - only it never gets there, it tries loading but does nothing. I can see that I've got stuff from folks (I somehow managed to very quickly copy and paste one from vismaya_viewer and read it, but not anything else anybody's sent me today. So, for the moment at least, I'm asking you to change your records to note that my e-mail address is now at gmail dot come (same starting bit as before). Thanks!

Oh, and if anybody has any suggestions as to how I can deal w/this nonsense, that'd be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Apparently I'm not alone...

EDIT2: Okay, I can read an e-mail if'n I hit the ESCAPE button as soon as the e-mail appears on the screen.

I'm in SoCal. Flew in on Wed. Flying out again (to SEATAC) on Monday. Even though I know dozens of people here and've spent decades living here, it really feels as if I'm on another planet. Imagery: BUBBLES. I'm existing in a tiny bubble filled w/just the people I've been interacting with recently and the folks at yesterday's mem'l service. Yeah, others exist, I've even spoken w/other folks and IM'd and e-mailed...but nothing feels real...everything's a tad hazy and surreal. Focus has been specific and other-directed.

Splashed about in the Pacific Wed night after a far-more-crowded than it should've been late night trip to LAX to drop a car off for more outta-town fambily arriving in town for the...they're not festivities...what're they? Deathtivities? blah blah blah more huge thoughts 'bout compartmentalization of lives swirling about here but I'm too wiped out to try to make sense

Today's it's finally quiet for a bit. Nobody's here but me 'n' AJ - and she's down for a nap now. Later on there's a fambily outing for Wall-E followed by dinner at cuz EP 'n' fambily's house. Dunno 'xactly what o'morrow (Sat) holds beyond continued logistics. The fambily members who came into town're starting to depart so various runs to various airports will continue for another few days.

I'm taking this Sunday for ME. Hopefully will get to visit w/1annie1 'n' fambily in the morning, then a spa-licious afternoon, and finally, a date w/hiddentass.

And soon now, in not so many days, I'll have a few precious days at the Hive. I quite like Portland. I even ostensibly live there. I'd like to spend some time there again while the weather's delightful.

Live music = one of my fave things. Not a single eye remained unmoistened last night.

Turning

The wheel and the season's turned (maybe...hopefully...is Summer really here?), folks're moving 'round, things're shifting. I'm finding myself at times in positions I don't much care for and'm dealing w/it all as best I can. Gonna not worry (too much) and be happy (lots 'n' lots).

At ecstatic dance last night, the guy who put it together (made the marvie music mix and lead the opening and closing circles) said he'd been feeling as if things were gearing up for an explosion (presumably in his life). Various people nodded their heads knowingly and/or in agreement. I far prefer implosions to explosions, inclusion to exclusion, internal to external manifestations of badness. On this last one though, keeping things stuffed in ain't so healthy or wise or nice. Messes'll have to be cleaned up sooner or later.

I'm on the verge of pruning my LJ F-list b'c I don't have the time/energy to read everything everyone writes. If'n I haven't met you in person and/or you don't actually use LJ, you're certainly welcome to keep reading mine (rarely do I lock posts).

A Mellow Day

Today was really fairly mellow and quiet, quite nice and needed. sidhefire's visiting the Hive for a few days. Today began w/b-fast at Cricket Cafe (yum). After numbly sustenance, we headed over to PAM to check out the art then wandered the Farmer's Market a block away before hitting Sock Dreams and then returning over the river again to enjoy the Rose Gardens. Afterwards we returned to the Hive and walked over to Division Blvd to check out that area and grab a bite to eat and some coffee. Turns out there's a nice new wine bar/garden shop along w/the newest incarnation of the Goddess Gallery which became Practically Divine and is now something else the name of which I've forgotten. Also hit the really good thrift store at the corner of 50th. Then 'twas back to the Hive to relax s'more before finishing off the day w/ecstatic dance followed by the traditional lavender honey steamers and snackies at the Pied Cow. Soon: sleep. O'morrow the 'rents (mom and her hubby) arrive for a week and a half. Much bizziness to come... Somewhere 'round July 2nd/3rd I'll get to relax again.

Stuff & Things

As I wander about my place, putting things away, looking at what I have and wondering which things I really need, it hits me: I have a lot of stuff and things "just in case." I'm not where I'm going to be. I don't know where I'm going to be. I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing. Then again, hanging onto stuff in case I need it really may well result in clogging up the pipeline of where I'd like to be and what I'd like to be doing.

Goal: get no more stuff, at least w/out thinking long and hard 'bout whether I need the stuff and ideally with a give and take built in the process: as something comes in, so something goes out.

It can be anything you want -- good or bad.
